Funded Projects

The following is a list of some of the recent grants or contracts that illustrate the types of activities that are brought under the auspices of the Center:

• Character Education Approach to Health Outcomes

   

• What Works in Character Education: A subcontract with the Character Education Partnership funded by the Templeton Foundation. The contract involves a review of research on effective practices of character education.

• National Character Education Clearinghouse: A subcontract with the National Character Education Partnership funded by the U.S. Department of Education. It entails a needs assignment for, and design of, a national clearinghouse for character education.

• California Character Communities: Funded by the Templeton Foundation , this empirical study conducted in collaboration with California State University Fresno, examined the relationship between character education and academic achievement.

• Caring School Communities: a subcontract with the St. Louis Cooperating School Districts funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The scope of work entailed implementing and evaluating "caring school communities" in 40 elementary schools.

• Social and Character Development: A subcontract with Mathematica Policy Research funded by the Institute for Education Science, U.S. Department of Education. The project entailed a multi-site evaluation of national implementation projects.
